The Blugolds drove down to Oshkosh for their first series against each other.
After a long drive it took the Blugolds awhile to get the legs going and Oshkosh
jumped on the board first. Eau Claire’s Dillon Gavazzoni knotted the score at
one with the assists coming from the Boldenow brothers. In the second Oshkosh
scored three to Eau Claire’s two coming from defenseman Alex Zitske and another
from Gavazzoni. Oshkosh scored one more in the third putting them in the lead
five to three. Eau Claire’s defenseman Marcus Surita gave the Blugolds a
fighting shot scoring late in the third. However the Blugolds were unable to
mount the comeback and lost five to four.
Game two of the series the Blugolds came out flying. The first period scoring
belonged to Ben Boldenow who scored a pair. In the second Austin King and
Michael Preskar added to the lead and the Blugolds were winning four to zero. In
the third Oshkosh tried to mount a comeback scoring twice, but it wasn’t enough.
The Blugolds skated to a six to two victory and split the series.
